Charlotte Mason once described education as “the science of relations,” the idea that a child comes into the world with a natural connection to a wide and generous feast of ideas, people, and things. It is a vision that has shaped our school from the beginning, and we are delighted to share news of an event that will bring that vision to life for our whole Kansas City community.
On Tuesday, November 3, Kerri Forney, Executive Director of the Charlotte Mason Institute, will be in Kansas City for a free evening for Charlotte Mason educators. Kerri and Dr. Shannon Whiteside recently spent a month doing research in the Charlotte Mason Archives in Ambleside, England. . Kerri will share what they found in the place where Miss Mason lived, taught, and founded her work. We can hardly wait to hear it!
Who Should Come
Whether you are educating with Charlotte Mason in your home, your co-op, or a school, this evening is for you. Teachers, parents, and curious friends are all welcome. If you have been practicing this philosophy for decades, you will find fellow travelers. If you are just beginning to wonder what a Charlotte Mason education looks like, you will find encouragement and good conversation.
Join Us for an Open House First
Before the event, Kalos Christian Academy will host an open house at 5:00 PM. If you’re curious about what a Charlotte Mason education looks like this is the perfect time to visit. Walk through our rooms, meet our teachers, and see how we put living books, narration, and nature study to work with our students. Then you can hear Kerri speak with a fuller picture of what this philosophy looks like in practice.
Come with questions. We love talking about what we do and why we do it.
